Maintenance tasks for failure modes which have economic consequences may require a financial calculation to determine whether or not they are worth doing.
For some facilitators, these calculations are not trivial and they do not feel comfortable performing them “in public”.
RCM Desktop Advanced Edition makes these calculations extremely easy so the facilitator does not have to remember the logic behind them.
The calculator guides the facilitator through the calculation, asking for appropriate inputs when necessary.
The calculator displays a summary of the calculation (shown on the right), clearly indicating whether or not the proposed task is worth doing.
The daunting and laborious task of documenting the calculation is eliminated by the calculator. All the calculation details are placed into the Windows clipboard by the calculator in plain English text.
The facilitator can then paste that text into the relevant supporting comments box, thus saving the facilitator a great deal of typing time.
