Decision Logic Supporting Comments

Time-saving rating....
Picture
This feature is included in the Ultimate, Advanced, Intermediate & Basic Editions
An important part of documenting the  RCM  process is to maintain an accurate record of any information that influenced the group's decision about how to manage each failure mode.

Such information can include:

  • Warning sign(s) that were considered for use in an on-condition task
  • PF interval and "life"
  • Worth-doing calculations (inputs and results)
  • Failure-finding task interval calculations (assumptions, inputs and results)

RCM Desktop  provides a field to record up to 3,500 characters of supporting comments against each decision logic question for every single failure mode. An example of one of these is shown in the screen shot above.

Correct use of this field enables the analysis auditor to understand easily each decision made by the  RCM  analysis group and is invaluable when the analysis is reviewed in the future.

(The live spell checker and auto-correction features are available in the supporting comments field (Advanced Edition) to save the facilitator a lot of time when entering frequently-used phrases.)
Supporting Comments
The following video shows how the supporting comments can build an audit trail in the Advanced & Ultimate Editions
